Week 1

Different types of infographics and online tools

For our first task, we had to work in groups and make a presentation slide about different types of infographics.

Here is the presentation slide my group and I made.

Exercise 1

Quantify and Visualise Data

For our exercise 1, it was about utilising visuals to showcase information displayed on a canvas. Using our creativity to show data on simple objects with varieties by visual appeal and comprehension.

Process

I first counted and sectioned all my flower charms in different varieties of materials and sorted them with sizes as well. I did reduce some of the unnecessary flower charms since it was too much and some were either the same color but different material and some were too hard to see on the canvas. After that, I started forming the design layout to make it look nicer and more fun. Then I sketched a draft digitally and waited for approval.

In the end, I followed my sketch and drew out the layout with coloured markers and in different fonts with sizes to show hierarchy. I added some colours to the lines separating the charms to make it more obvious that the materials are different.

Week 2

For the 2nd week, we had to make another presentation slide about the L.A.T.C.H. method.

Exercise 2

For this exercise, we had to make an infographic using the L.A.T.C.H method. The content I chose was game characters from 'Love and Deep Space'. There are 5 love interest each of them having multiple myths which are character cards used in battle.

First off, the game doesn't have a full world map so I had to base on the close ups of the cities in the game.

I followed the references as best as I could and tried to make them connected.

After that, I screenshotted all the character's myth outfits and removed the background. The game lore is kind of complicated to explain, which is why I resorted to a more simple way to show that some of the myths were past lives and the present is the one that is mostly interacted in the game.

Reflection

Exercise 1 was basically preparing us on what this module was all about. For the 1st exercise, we had to arrange objects into categories and display it visually appealing. It took me a while to figure out how I could make the display look good while showing all the categories neatly. The 2nd exercise, was more simple. However, the hardest part was figuring out the map. In the game, they never really displayed the full world map at all, so I had to do some research to know where some of the locations the characters are located. I tried making the map look as accurate as possible to the game but still keeping it simple in aesthetic. I'm glad the map turned out well and was able to fully display all the characters. All in all, I learned some basic knowledge on why we needed this module.
