Introduction

Week 1 - Introduction to Vormator Challenge

Figure 1 Shapes for the Vormator Challenge

In this lecture, we were tasked to use these specific shapes to make a character of our liking. We were not allowed to distort the shapes in any way or form, only by resizing and reflecting the shapes were allowed.

Task 1 - Process

Sketch Phase

Figure 2 My monster sketch

This character is called Nymphis. She used to be a nymph who was one with nature but after being betrayed by her own kind, she turned into a fallen nymph.

I envisioned a creature that is both eerie and captivating. The inky black voids around her and spreading across her body is part of her power after she became a fallen nymph. In the sketch on the right, her mouth opens to reveal razor-sharp teeth and a serpentine tongue.

The Inspiration

These are the inspiration for the sketch above.

The Final Outcome

Figure 5 Final Outcome of the Character

I added the final details which took a long time to complete. I am quite happy with the final work but I do wish I should have added more designs such as adding a spine behind her or making her mouth open like in a previous sketch instead of her neutral face.

Extra

Figure 6 Extra Shading

Here is the extra shadings for the character.

Reflection

I learned many ways to make shapes form together and had a lot of fun.
