Reflection

During this assignment, I really enjoyed experimenting with filters and editing photos of people. I gained valuable insights into composing images in a way that feels both surreal and believable. This experience not only enhanced my understanding of filter techniques but also allowed me to create visually striking and creative designs. Overall, it was a fun and educational project that sharpened my skills in photo editing and design.

The Science and Art of Using Colour

  • RGB VS CMYK:
    • CMYK: Cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK) are the primary colors of printing which are created by the subtraction of light
    • RGB: used to display on your computer screen created by mixing red, green and blue light sources of various intensities

Double Exposure (Woman)

For the double exposure exercise, we were tasked to use a photo of a woman and follow the video tutorial on how to make a double exposure composition. After that, we would make a double exposure of a photo of ourselves to test what we have learned from the tutorial.

First, I made a selection of the woman and then placed an image of a forest on her face like in the tutorial. Then I set the forest image layer as clipping mask and made her face overlay over the trees.

I added images of birds above her head and added some clouds around her.

Lastly, I set the gradient map of the whole composition so soft pastel colors.

Double Exposure (Own Photo)

This was the original image I chose of myself cosplaying as 9s from an RPG game called NieR:Automata. This picture was taken by my friend @soirewn at Tropicana Gradens Mall.

Before I went into making my double exposure, I edited the contrast and colors to make myself stand out more so it would be easier to select myself. After that, I used quick selection and created a mask layer and set myself to greyscale.

Then I imported an image of the game cover from NieR:Automata and turned up the contrast.

Following that, I added another character overseeing the two characters from a distance. After that, I also added a shattered glass effect for a dramatic look.
