Project 2A: Lalin

We were assigned a task to edit raw footage from previous students, focusing on applying color correction and color grading techniques.

I followed the tutorial provided by my tutor, but made a few subtle adjustments to make the edit feel more like my own.

Here is the final outcome of the Lalin color grading.

Project 2B: Production Shoot

After the Lalin task, our tutor formed 2 groups in our class for the next part of the assignment. I volunteered as the art director (prop maker/makeup artist) since it was in my expertise. However when we were discussing about the actors we were unable to find a suitable person who could act as Evelyn since all the roles that were taken could not leave their designated post. I was then chosen to be an actress since I wouldn't have anything else to do as the art director after making the props and adjusting the actors costumes.

But before we started on the actual project, we had a mini session of our tutor explaining how to use the production equipment in the studio so we could be prepared on the day of the shoot.

Figure 4 Storyboard

This was the storyboard we had to recreate from the movie Everything, Everywhere All at once. I had to practice my lines which was quite simple since Evelyn had a few lines. We spent around 3 hours shooting all the scenes.

I followed the color chart that was required in the editing which was provided by our tutor. Since my tutor said we didn't have to follow the storyboard sequence, I changed the sequence to how I preferred.

3. Reflection

During this assignment, I was pretty excited to be in roles of a production shoot even if it was a small production. When I volunteered as an art director, I never imagined I would also be an actress as well since we had limited people to work with. When it was the day of the shoot, I was pretty nervous since I'm usually bad with remembering lines and I was afraid of dragging everyone's time. However, I managed my lines pretty well and we did not have to reshoot many of the scenes. This whole experience was really fun and my group members were also really passionate during the shoot helping here and there when necessary.
