Week 4
For this week, we had to make another presentation slide about
chunking and how to use it.

Exercise 3
In this exercise, we were grouped up with 6-7 people to make a
lyric video 'Kinetic Typography'. First off, we chose the song to
edit which was 'Save You Tears' by The Weeknd & Ariana
Grande.
After the song was approved by our lecturer, we divided the lines
equally for each person to make. Instead of a storyboard we made
an animatic to better visualise how the final animation would turn
out.

These are my parts of the animatic.
Figure 1.0 Animatic Draft
After the animatics were approved, we moved on to making the final
digitalised animation version. I made a few tweaks so it would look
more cohesive with the other parts.
Figure 1.1 Digitalised Animation
As the final compilation, I helped out a little in the compilation
and certain transitions with one of my groupmate, Loh Kai Xuan. I made
some suggestions on what she could do for the transitions and help her
out when she was unsure on what to add.

Exercise 4
For this exercise, we were each given a specific graph selected
by our tutor. The graph I received was Line Graph.
Figure 1.3 Making The Graph
I reviewed the slides to see what I had to do for the motion
animation. I followed the exact data provided and made the
whole graph first. Some slight changes were made in the colors
so its less stressing to the eyes.
Figure 1.4 Following The Tutorial
Then I clicked on the video that was given in the slides
and followed the tutorial. The whole process was really
simple, all you have to do is click on the add button on
contents and choose trim paths. Then in trim paths, set the
end on the first second to 0% and anywhere you want for the
line to end at 100%.

Exercise 5
The final exercise, we had to make a short vector animation from an
illustration that was provided in the slide.
First off, I followed what our lecturer taught us by separating all the
objects into layers and increase the canvas size in Illustrator.
The Illustrator file is then imported into After Effects. Then I made a few
compositions to separate the objects that requires to be in groups.
Figure 1.7 Process
I animated each of the parts separately and added them into the final composition. The shadows were tough to animate, but I figured a way by rotating and sizing it.
In the final composition, I edited the other elements which were not in a
group together with the grouped ones. For the river, I used the puppet tool to
manipulate it to look like water was flowing.
As for the sun, I just did some simple position frames and set some of
it to easy ease. The rest were simple pop in animation that was taught during
our tutorial class.

Feedback
Week 5
He said that we should try to add more elements behind the slow paced parts
of the song so it doesnt look so empty.
Reflection
During these exercises, I've learned a lot from the flip classrooms while
making our presentations. Just lightly researching about something to
present makes it easy to learn and fun. The Kinetic Typography group project
was interesting and I enjoyed the process of making my parts of the
animation and helping out whenever possible. As for exercise 4, I found that
task was really easy so I took my time and made it simple to understand. The
final exercise was my most favorite task to do. Animating the bounce effects
and pop ins was really satisfying. I did however struggled a lot doing the
shadows of the trees since it was all individual. I tried a few ways to make
it seem like the shadows were following the sun's direction and managed to
overcome it. Overall, I learned many things throughout these few exercises.
