Overall Reflection:

Experience

In summary, I found this module to be one of the most challenging of all the courses I’ve taken. At the beginning, I felt quite lost, as it marked the start of my first year in the degree program. However, after a few weeks, I became more accustomed to the exercises and assignments, and the initial confusion faded. Despite facing setbacks, where my work wasn’t approved and required multiple revisions, I persevered and was ultimately able to complete everything successfully.

Observation

From what I observed throughout this module, typography initially wasn't my strong suit, but I was excited about the opportunity to create my own fonts and typefaces. As the weeks went by, however, my enthusiasm began to wane, especially as I became overwhelmed with multiple assignments and my focus was scattered. Yet, as we neared the final weeks, things started to click, and when we received our final assignment, my interest in typography was reignited. I found myself enjoying the process of designing my own typeface and crafting a quote that resonated with me.

Findings

Overall, this module provided me with valuable insights into the history and development of typography, as well as hands-on experience in properly designing using software like Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and FontLab. I was able to see my progress and improvement with each assignment, which was both motivating and rewarding. In conclusion, while this module felt like a rollercoaster at times, it was also one of the most interesting, thanks to the variety of information and skills it offered.
