3. Process Work

I first started with brainstorming my ideas into the proposal slide provided by my tutor. There wasn't a theme yet so I searched a few type of style I wanted to go for.

The following week we were given our theme/topic that was optional to follow and I got my proposal approved so I could proceed with making the storyboard. Here is a part of the storyboard, you can view more in the proposal slides link above.

After getting my feedback, my tutor said that my story was slightly too complicated and he said that kings usually never works which I tried showing. He suggested that I could either keep the part where the king does his work which I would have to recreate a whole new scene or I could just stick with the love story. In the end, I chose to keep the love story since it was the main plot of why the king was overthrown by his subjects.

Here is the process of making the props and the characters.

Figure 3 Shoot Setup

I created a setup for the shoot using my previous A2 paper from my foundation days.

Figure 3 Frames and Importing

After the shooting process, I exported the file into my drive and imported it into After Effects.

In After Effects, I dragged all the footages into the composition and adjusted the timing. I had to also fix some of the lighting in some footages because of the camera flickering.

Figure 4 Editing in After Effects and Premiere Pro

After fixing all of the lighting issues, I proceeded with adding a background in some scenes. Then I added the final touches with some graphics I drew and imported a few audios in Premiere Pro and finally exported my video.

Lastly, it was time to publish the video on YouTube.

Final Outcome:

3. Reflection

During this project, I was pretty excited to make a stop-motion animation since in another on going module I was researching on stop-motion animation. The beginning was slightly rough since I had to brainstorm about what I wanted to make. An idea popped up in my mind since the topic was regarding tarot cards. I decided to base my characters of historical fantasies where kings ruling their empires and witches existed. Once I had my proposal approved I immediately started on my storyboard and then moved on to editing the video. I had a lot of trouble editing the background in a few of the scenes which had me stressed out since I couldn't find a way to fix it. In the end, I did edited the background in a tedious manner and was able to complete the project on time.
